You've booked your session! What now?

Yay! You have a session booked! Great! You might be wondering what to expect at your newborn session. This blog will go through the process of an in-studio, posed newborn session. So if you're looking to get information for lifestyle newborn sessions, this might not be the post for you! Read on to discover what a newborn studio session with Jennifer Shneidman Photography is like.

From booking, to the session.

If you have signed the contract and paid your non-refundable fee, this means you have secured a date in my calendar. Yay! After booking, I will send out a questionnaire: here you will let me know about your visions and hopes for your session, so that I can personalize and plan to the best of my abilities. From booking, to gallery delivery, I will be in contact with you every step of the way.

On the day of the session, all you have to do is get yourself and the kiddos photo ready! You do not need to do anything for baby as I will provide all outfits, wraps and headbands. You can, of course, bring a special outfit if you wish! If you booked a family session, we will usually begin with sibling photos; we know they don't have long attention spans! From here, we will move onto family shots, then shots with just mom and dad. After this, one parent (usually dad) will take the kiddos out while we continue the session. Some parents choose to go home, some choose to go to the many different parks around my home studio, or maybe grab a bite at the nearby fast food restaurants. Siblings are also welcome to stay, though!

After the family portion is done, we will focus our attention on posing and photographing the baby only. This is a great opportunity to sit back, go on your phone, eat some snacks, or even take a nap for a couple hours! The studio is kept very warm for the newborn baby, so some parents often fall asleep from the coziness! Some snacks and refreshments are provided in the studio for you to enjoy! There are plenty of opportunities to change babys diaper, or give baby a little cuddle and feed throughout the session. Sessions are very much baby-led: they are the boss, afterall!
